GAP Technologies began on October 10, 2006 as a sole proprietorship. It became a corporation on April 4, 2007. The company name GAP Technologies stands for Geddis Applied Photonics Technologies. The inspiration of the company came while Dr. Geddis was an Electrical Engineering undergraduate student at Hampton University.
